Lakshya, played by Himansh Kohli studies at a university in Sikkim and is the son of a martyred army officer. He alsong with his 5 friends, Saloni, played by Rakul Preet Singh, Pardy, played by Shreyas Pardiwalla, Jiya, played by Nicole Faria and Neil, played by Dev Sharma live a very carefree and happy go lucky life. Their University land has been sold to an Australian business tycoon who plans to build a casino there but can lease it only for 100 more years unless the students win a 5 round competition.
The first three rounds are held in Australia where Lakshya meets his cousin Debu. They participate in a rock concert but their song is stolen by the rival team. Debu confronts them about it and gets badly beaten and rushed to the hospital. He however, succumbs to his injuries and dies. On hearing the tragic news Saloni and Neil are unable to win the bike race too but she manages to win the chess competition, which gives Australia a 2-1 advantage.
The last two rounds are held in India and Lakshya learns that the person who deceived them is Neil who gave their song to the other team as well as lost the bike round on a promise of Autralian citizenship from another team member. In the third cycling round however he decides to play truthfully but falls injuring his legs. So Lakshya takes part and wins.
The last round is rock climbing where a person has to collect their country’s flag and run to college. Lakshya wins that competition too and finally win against Australia.
Yaariyan is directed by Divya Khosla Kumar and produced by Bhushan Kumar. The music is composed by Pritam, Anupam Amod, Mithoon, Arko Pravo Mukherjee and Yo Yo Honey Singh.
