Madhu is brought up in a middle class family that consists of her brothers Shankar and Sunder. They struggle financially but manage somehow to make ends meet. Meanwhile Madhu falls in love with Ram Nath and both soon get married and she moves in with his parents and unmarried sister Sudha. The couple yet again struggle to meet finances. Her widowed mother and brothers meanwhile move in with them. Sudha then marries a wealthy guy. Madhu and Sudha soon become pregnant at the same time and give birth to a girl and boy respectively. Ram is now burdened by the financial troubles and warns Madhu that she better relocate with him to the city or he will leave her taking their daughter with him. The film is directed by Dasari Narayan Rao and produced by L V Prasad. The star cast includes Vinod Mehra, Raj Kiran, Shabana Azmi, Sarika, Madan Puri, Asrani ,Sulbha Deshpande, Bhagwan, Shashikala and Madhu Malini
