Kavita is a wealthy woman but has lost her husband at an early age. She now lives with her only son Sanjay, who is studying medicine in Ooty. Sanjay meets Anita in Ooty and both fall in love with each other. Anita confides in her aunt Kanchan and the latter accepts the marriage. Meanwhile Kanchan’s step brother Rakesh blackmails her that he would spread the news that she is actually Sanjay biological mother. In anger Kanchan kills Rakesh. Soon the news is out and Sanjay comes to know the truth and accepts Kanchan as his mother and finally marries Anita. The film is directed by Bharat Rangachary and produced by Subhas Gupta and Udhay Narayan. The music is composed by R D Burman. The story is written by Preeti Sapru. The star cast includes Shashi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Raakhee, Rekha, Mazhar Khan, Satyen Kappu, Anita Raaj and Kalpana Iyer.
