Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is a biopic of freedom fighter and activist Vinayak Damodar Savarkar known by the name Veer Savarkar. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was born on May 28, 1883. He contributed to the freedom of the country by leading the Hindu Mahasaba. He was a part of the freedom movement from an early age. He was a part of groups like India House and the Free India Society when he was studying law in the UK. He is best known for minting the term Hindutva. According to the director of the movie 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' serves the purpose of narrating the unheard and misunderstood story of Veer Savarkar.

Swatantrya Veer Savarkar features Randeep Hooda as the lead character of Veer Savarkar. There is no revelation made about the character Ankita Lokhande will be playing in the movie.

The movie is directed and co-written by Randeep Hooda with Utkarsh Naithani. The movie is backed by Zee Studios, Anand Pandit, Randeep Hooda, Sandeep Singh and Yogesh Rahar. Besides Randeep and Ankita, the movie also stars Amit Sial. Swatantrya Veer Savarkar will be out in theatres on March 22.
