Rapper
Badshah launches his latest Rajasthani Rap Song ‘Morni’ inspired by the
original track sung by legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar ji in the film Lamhe,
which was produced by Yash Raj Films. The remake has been released by Saregama.
The rap
version of ‘Morni’ has been Composed by Badshah in collaboration with Hiten, and
is sung by the singer Sharvi Yadav. The song also features ‘Asaka Kooda’ fame dancer
Preethi Suresh, grooving to the song in traditional Rajasthani attire. The song
was shot in Jodhpur and captures scenes of hunting while Badshah is seen
swirling a rifle grooving in ecstasy.
Badshah
throws light on how he shortlists talent for his videos, saying, “I pick the
singers myself, if they come in my radar and I like their music, I reach out to
them.”
Talking
about how the song came into place, Badshah says, “The hero of the song is
Sharvi. We were in Sri Lanka and Sharvi had sent me this song recorded in her
voice on a click on a voice note. She has got a very powerful voice, and
although she is cute looking, she’s like a chota packet main bada dhamaka.”
He adds, “After
listening to her I had sent the recording to Hiten. Although I did not brief
him on anything, he just came up with this beat and nailed it within half an
hour. Then, when we made the video we
reached out to Preeti, who danced brilliantly and the song came in form. We are
grateful that we got the permissions from Yash Raj Films and eventually
Saregama decided to release it.”
When asked
about how he has created all of his biggest songs in a span of half an hour, Is
it true that, if it doesn't do right in the first go, it doesn't happen, to
which Badshah replies, “It comes very naturally to me and I feel to finish the
song in time so that I want to listen to it. That half an hour has taken a hard
work of 10-15 years,”
Talking
about composing the track Hiten says, “It's not easy to create music or impress
him, since he’s very particular about what he wants in his tracks, but it just
happened.”
Talking
about how was the experience of shooting in Jodhpur, Badshah said, “The biggest
heroes of the song are the people of Jodhpur, who gave us such a warm welcome
and acceptance that they even made me wear a pagri after the song was shot.”
The launch
also saw live performances of ‘Morni’ by Badshah, Sharvi and Preeti, while
Badshah also danced with his fans and rapped with a Beet Boxer.
When asked about after trying Rajasthani Folk would try to explore a fusion with genres of music like Indian Classical in future, Badshah Says, “ Well although I sing Rap music, I belong to the world of music. Recently I got so touched listening to a Thumri sung by Sneha Shankar on Indian Idol, that I started crying.”
