The much-awaited movie directed by Imtiaz Ali Chamkila has finally come up with an exciting announcement. After making fans wait for 3 years the makers are here with the release date of Chamkila. Starring Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead role Chamkila will release on the OTT platform Netflix.

Today on 26 February the leading OTT platform in India Netflix shared exciting news surrounding the upcoming movie Chamkila. Amar Singh Chamkila's Life Story Comes to Life in Imtiaz Ali's Movie Starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra:

The movie narrates an untold story based on the life of Punjab's original rockstar 'Amar Singh Chamkila.' Directed by Bollywood's ace director Imtiaz Ali it features Diljit Dosanjh in the role of Chamkila and Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot (Chamkila's Wife). 

The Short-lived Lifestory Of Amar Singh Chamkila And Amarjot Kaur:

Amar Singh Chamkila was one of the most popular Punjabi singers. The movie will shed light on his short-lived yet encouraging life. The singer lost his life at the peak of his career. Chamkila was known as  ‘Elvis of Punjab’ by many of his fans. The singer has written songs based on many taboo topics around him. His songs like ‘Pehle Lalkare Naal’, and ‘Talwar Main Kalgidhar Di’ and albums like ‘Jija Lak Minle’ and ‘Hikk Utte So Ja Ve’ are some of the hit and memorable works done by him. The singer was only 27 years old when he left the world. He and his wife Amarjot were shot down in broad daylight on March 8, 1988. The murders of Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur are still not found and the case remains unsolved.

According to the announcement made today, the movie will be out on Netflix on 12 April.
