Media Tycoon Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, chairman of Ramoji Group and head of Ramoji Film City and ETV Network, passed away on June 8th. He was one of the prominent figures in the media industry.

Cherukuri Ramoji Rao’s Final Days: Chronic Illness and Age-Related Complications:

Cherukuri Ramoji Rao has been undergoing treatment for chronic illness and age-related health complications for the last few days. Cherukuri Ramoji Rao was admitted to the Star Hospitals of Nanakramguda in Hyderabad. He breathed his last at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife Rama Devi and son Ch Kiran.

Cherukuri Ramoji Rao was one of the inspiring personalities in India. Born on November 16, 1936, he built many successful ventures such as Margadarsi Chit Funds, Eenadu Telugu daily, ETV network of television channels, film production company Usha Kiran Movies and the world’s largest film production facility – Ramoji Film City (RFC). He has given so much to the Indian media and entertainment industry. His mark on the industry will always stay memorable and indelible. Other than the media industry he also succeeded in other industries with the Dolphin group of hotels, Kalanjali Saree Showrooms, Priya Foods and Mayuri Film Distributors.

Cherukuri Ramoji Rao Awarded Padma Vibhushan for Contributions to Journalism and Education:

In 2016, Cherukuri Ramoji Rao was honoured with Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in the country. He was awarded for his contributions to journalism, literature and education.
