Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure spearheading CINTAA announced a very special event organised to commemorate 100th Birthday of the legendary Showman Raj Kapoor.


Taking about the inception and idea, Poonam Dhillon said," I have worked with RK films and have family relations with the Kapoor's. One day speaking to Shammi Kapoor ji's wife she mentioned," It is Raj Kapoor ji's centenary year, and it’s very special for us.’ That made me think about doing something for him. Raj Kapoor has been one of our legendary actors, and as CINTAA is an artists’ association, we should honour him."



She added, "I shared it with Padmini and then proposed this idea with our executive committee of giving a 'Musical Tribute to Raj Kapoor' to celebrate his eternal music which everyone enjoys till date, and they really liked it. Despite the time crunch, we personally started reaching out to the singers, and they agreed without hesitation to perform for this tribute to the legendary Raj Kapoor."


Padmini Kolhapure said," I think after coming to CINTAA Me and Poonam make a great team, and we thought together that CINTAA should actually give a tribute to Raj Kapoorji, who always thought of the film fraternity as his family so now CINTAA as a family is giving him a great tribute. We want to thank all the artists who have come in support for this event which is happening on the 18th December."


Throwing light on the performances at the event Poonam added, "I feel indebted to all the artists for showing their generosity to perform who include Nitin Mukesh, Suresh Wadkar, Shailendra Singh, Sudesh Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Madhushree, Bela Solanki, and Padmini Kolhapure, while Sudhanshu Pandey will host. All the artists agreed to participate in the event out of respect for Raj Kapoor and CINTAA, and we appreciate it."


Sharing a memory of Raj Kapoor Poonam Dhillon said," I’ll never forget the compliment he gave me: ‘If I’ve seen a beautiful face after Madhubala, it is yours.’ At 15-16, I didn’t fully understand the importance of that compliment, but today, I cherish it."

Padmini Kolhapure sharing her experience working with Raj Kapoor said, "I'm a product of RK films and whatever I am today is due to Raj Kapoor ji. He made women-oriented films and just loved his heroines and the way he portrayed them, while his films brought a reform in the society, he is being a revolutionary."


Actor Sudhanshu Pandey who also happens to be a singer will be the host and the master of ceremony for the event. Sudhanshu will weave the show together as many singers will pay a tribute to Raj Kapoor singing his famous songs. 


Sudhanshu talking about Raj Kapoor Said, " Raj Kapoor Saheb is like a father figure of Indian cinema, who has created the path for all of us to follow, and I grew up watching his films Aah, Barsaat, Shree 420 and I even developed a musical inclination listening to his songs and watching his acting which has a natural flair that made a very strong influence and impact on my mind.I feel extremely honoured to be a part Centenary celebrations to pay my heartfelt tribute to the legendary film maker."


Actor Deepak Parashar said, "Raj Kapoor Saheb was iconic and I'm very proud of CINTAA for taking this initiative especially Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon who have worked really hard to have raised lot of funds. It's going to be a fantastic event and we have some renowned singers presenting Raj Kapoor's Film songs."


Poonam Dhillon informed," We are not selling tickets for the event, instead, it will serve as a fundraiser for CINTAA. The funds will help support members in need of financial or medical assistance.We are grateful that Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar have supported us during the pandemic, and some artists continue to help during festivals like Diwali."
