Dadasaheb Phalke, A.K.A father of Indian cinema was the first to make our country’s full-length feature film titled ‘Raja Harishchandra’ in 1913. Ever since then, innumerous movies have been made in all genres and lengths.

 

The Dadasaheb Phalke awards was introduced showcase excellence in cinema and is still India’s supreme award in cinema. Devika Rani was the first Indian film actress of the 30’s to have received this award.

 

Today a number of actors and actresses have been awarded with this honor for their valuable contributions. Late actor Vinod Khanna was previously honored with the posthumous award in 2018. The latest stars to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke excellence awards include stars kids from the movie Dhadak, Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor for best debutants. Aditi Rao Hydari won for her contribution to South cinema. Amrita Rao won for her performance as Meenatai Thackeray in the movie Thackeray. Other actors who won the prestigious award included Ahana Kumra for most promising fresh face for ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and Kubbra Sait from Sacred Games won Digital sensation of the year.
