Many film and TV actors are exploring the OTT Platform. The latest to join the bandwagon is Daisy Shah, who has been a part of films like 'Jai Ho', 'Hate Story 3' and 'Race 3'. She is all set to make her digital debut with Shahid Kazmi's 'Lahora, The Kingdom'. The series is inspired by the life of Rani Didda, daughter of King Simharaja of Lohara. Daisy will be seen in the lead role as the warrior queen. She says, “The story and the character prompted me to take up this project. I was quite intrigued by the way this woman changed things around for women in that era.”
Shahid was clear about his choice for the lead role. He was impressed with Daisy's action sequences in Race 3. She shares, “Shahid told me that the series would require me to perform a lot of action sequences, and he considered me for the part after watching my performance in Race 3. However, the action sequences will be very different from what I had done in the film. I will be required to work harder to learn sword fighting and horse riding and perform the action sequences.”
Shahid has been fascinated by the story since his childhood. He shares, “The series, a historical project, is inspired by the life of Queen Didda. This story has fascinated me since my childhood, as I was born and raised in Kashmir. I grew up reading about her. I have been working on the script of this project for almost two years. Though challenging, I am confident that I will do justice to it.” Talking about casting Daisy, he says, “I saw her do some mind-blowing action sequences in ‘Race 3’. She was the first choice when I began working on the script. She is perfectly suited to play the warrior princess.”
The series will also star Sara Khan, Arjun Manhas, Ray Parihar, Aarti Bhagat, Faizan Khan, and Shoaib Nikash Shah which will be shot in Kashmir and Mumbai. The project will go on floors in the first week of April.
