After impressing fans in the South, Dhanush made his entry into Bollywood with Raanjhanaa opposite Sonam Kapoor. The film was a success and the actor appeared in many other Hindi films. Now his next is with Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar in the upcoming film Atrangi Re. In a recent interview with Karan Johar in his show Koffee Shots, the filmmaker asked Dhanush to choose between Sara and Kapoor as a better co-star, and the Shamitabh actor chose the latter. To this the Coolie No.1 actress said, “Wow, not offensive at all. I'm losing my hamper..”

Dhanush later explained why he took Sonam’s name saying, “Not taking away the kindness, sweetness, fun (that) Sara (brought) on the sets of Atrangi Re, Sonam because she was very special, she was my first co-star in Hindi films and a guy from the south coming here, and she made me feel very comfortable and very kind to me. I am very grateful for that.” Dhanush also had his doubts weather Sara will be able to play the role of Rinku in Atrangi Re. On the show he said, “To be very honest, I was a little worried. It’s such a big role and a very difficult character to play. I asked Aanand ji, ‘How many films has she done?’ He told me 2 or 3 films, at that point of time. I was like, ‘Can she pull it off?” Atrangi Re is directed by Aanand L Rai and will stream on Disney+ Hotstar on 24th December 2021.
