Bollywood actor Satish Kaushik was once upon a time known for his role as Calender in the blockbuster Mr. India. The actor however got typecast and was only offered only comic roles post that. He stated, “Everyone thought I can only make people laugh. And I ended up doing that in 150 films!” He added, “Earlier, you could get typecast quickly. Like only Sujit Kumar played elder brother, Bindu and Nirupa Roy played sister-in-law, Gulshan Grover played conniving brother, comic roles were reserved for Asrani. Mehmood however proved he can also play a leading man in Kunwara Baap.”

Satish is seen as a bad guy in Zee5’s web series Bloody Brothers. It also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. Talking of his character ‘Handa’, the actor said, “Handa is so much into himself. He’s a ruthless gangster, but an interesting man. Sometimes you find dark characters juicy too. He smokes cigar, plays billiards.” Adding that he didn’t know how to play billiards but learned it in the course of filming he said, “Jaideep and Zeeshan play it well. I know Jaideep for so many years, Zeeshan is my NSD junior. During shooting, I asked them to teach me too. So now I’m getting to do characters where I play golf, billiards. I didn’t get to do these things while doing funny roles. But since cinema is changing, directors are trusting me with unique roles.”

Speaking of Bloody Brothers’ director Shaad Ali, Kaushik said, “I’ve known Shaad through the get-togethers at Shabana Azmi’s house. Post shoot, they weren’t sure if I’ll party with them. But I used to be the first one to land up. They loved listening to my career experiences.” Bloody brothers tells the story of two brothers who accidentally run over an elderly man and do everything to hide the incident. It is currently streaming on Zee5 and also stars Shruti Seth.
