In the OTT space, Amazon Prime Video has signed a very important agreement with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding content. The objective of this agreement will be to find and promote talent. Simultaneously, Doordarshan shows and IFFI events will also be streamed on Prime Video. Amazon India announced that it has signed a letter of engagement with the ministry for this.

Under this agreement, Amazon and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will create avenues through various mediums to promote creativity in the country. These will include film and TV institutes. The letter of engagement was signed at the National Media Center in the presence of Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, Amazon India Vice President of Public Policy Chetan Krishnamurthy and Asia Pacific Vice President Gaurav Gandhi.

Under this letter, programs will be prepared for internships and scholarships for students of Prime Video and Amazon MiniTV, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTII). This program will provide a hands-on working environment to the students, so that they can prepare themselves as per the expectations of the industry. In continuation of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav event, popular content from NFDC, Doordarshan and International Film Festival of India will be streamed on Prime Video and Mini TV.

Along with this, skill development masterclasses will be organized for the students of various film and TV institutes. Every year 75 creative youth from across the country will be searched in association with IFFI. They will be shortlisted and trained by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. A store will be set up on amazon.in, in which books from the Publications Division of MIB will be made available. Apart from this, Indian music content will be promoted on Amazon Music and Alexa.

Regarding this partnership, Anurag Thakur said – This partnership will strengthen the relationship between industry and education through internships, scholarship and masterclasses, which will reduce the struggle of skilled artists. On this occasion, Varun Dhawan, who is associated with Prime Video as Prime Bay, said that I am very excited about this agreement between Amazon and MIB. The last dream of any artist would be to get recognition for his work. This will be accomplished through Prime Video.
