Veerendra Singh a.k.a. Bhashi, was a huge Punjabi star in the 1980’s. He not only acted in several films but also directed many. He was incidentally the cousin of Bollywood superstar Dharmendra. On the set of his film Jatt Te Zameen in Ludhaina on 6th December 1988, the actor was shot dead and till date the details and reasons leading to his murder are unknown.

Veerendra Singh’s son Randeep Singh is now making a movie Documenting the mystery behind his father’ death. Although, Bhashi was fully aware of the threat to his life, he didn’t care. There were speculations that some industry insiders were jealous of his success, while others said it was a terrorist attack, which was high during the 80’s in Punjab. The film will be a clearer insight into his life and the tragedy that followed. Randeep Singh has also acted in a Punjabi movie titled Dulla Bhatti in 1998 and is married to model and actress Deepti Bhatnagar.
