Indian filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has found himself in a legal battle. In news coming from Jamnagar court, it has been said that the filmmaker has been sentenced to 2 years of jail. Currently, he was looking forward to taking his project Lahore 1947 to the floors

Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi Sentenced to 2 Years in Jail in Cheque Bounce Case:

According to reports on Saturday, February 17, a court in Jamnagar sentenced Rajkumar Santoshi to 2 years in jail for a 'cheque bounce case.' The court has also demanded the filmmaker deposit double the amount of the bounced cheque.

Jamnagar Resident Ashok Lal Files Complaint Against Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi Over Loan Repayment Failure:

The complaint has been filed by Ashok Lal, a resident of Jamnagar and owner of Shreeji Shipping. Rajkumar Santoshi had taken a loan of Rs. 1 crore in 2015 to make a movie. according to reports to repay the loan Rajkumar Santoshi gave 10 cheques of rupees 10 lakhs each. the cheques got bounced in 2016 December. Ahok Lal filed the suit under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Jamnagar Court Rules Against Santoshi in Cheque Bounce Case:

In 2023, the court had asked the filmmaker to pay ₹15,000 per cheque. The total to pay was ₹1.50 lakhs. This order was rejected by Santoshi even when he accepted to pay the dues he didn't show in the court.  The filmmaker was forced to make an appearance in court after a bailable warrant was issued against him.

On 17th February, the court sentenced a two-year jail for  Rajkumar Santoshi. With two years of jail, the court has also demanded to repay double the amount, that is Rs. 2 crores, to the complainant.
