The 94th Oscars will be huge for India this year, as the Indian documentary ‘Writing with Fire’ is only film from the country to make it to the Academy Awards. The film is directed by debutant directors Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh. 'Writing With Fire' gives us an account of the rise of Khabar Lahariya, India's only newspaper run by Dalit women. Having received the most coveted Oscar nomination is huge for our country. A video recently went viral showing the reaction of the makers after the announcement of the international nomination.

Bollywood celebs too couldn’t contain their excitement and expressed their pride on social media. Parineeti Chopra got emotional and wrote, “This feels like a personal victory. Congratulations my fellow Indians! You have made us all a little emotional today. @RintuThomas and #SushmitGhosh #Oscar #WritingWithFire #AcademyAwards.” Filmmaker Onir wrote, “The nation celebrates you tonight @RintuThomas. Congratulations and waiting to see the film. #WritingWithFire.” Farhan Akhtar said, “Huge congratulations to @RintuThomas and #SushmitGhosh on their Oscar nomination. Rooting for you #WritingWithFire #AcademyAwards.”
