The Indian film Kumbaya Story bagged a trophy at the 13th tve Global Sustainability Film Awards (GSFA) held at the iconic BAFTA. Produced by the Kumbaya Producer Co. Ltd, the movie received  the award in the Transforming Society Short Film category at the ceremony last night.

'The Kumbaya Story' narrates the inspiring journey of resilient women who have transformed their lives through the art of weaving, culminating in the establishment of the Kumbaya Producer Company.

This film explores the journey and stories of extraordinary women who own Kumbaya, whose courage and resilience made Kumbaya a Producer Company today.Thirty years ago, Kumbaya started with 12 tribal women who wanted to learn sewing.

They began with a box full of scrap and three borrowed sewing machines in a mud house in Neemkheda village. Kumbaya came into being with women making patchwork cushion cover made from small scraps of fabric.

Once a dry village landscape with no money, no shops, and earning resources, Kumbaya became a symbol of resistance and transformation, stitching their lives together. What started as a simple attempt to learn stitching has grown into an ethical business, a social enterprise breaking barriers of patriarchy and poverty in small rural area of Central India.
