Late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan made a name for himself not just in India but internationally too. He left behind a rich legacy of acting that his son Babil has now inherited. The young actor who is yet to make his official debut into films has now been signed on in ace filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s next. The film is a slice of life drama and is unusually titled ‘The Umesh Chronicles’. Babil will be playing the role of a servant boy in the film.

The Umesh Chronicles will also star Amitabh Bachchan who has an extended cameo. The film has gone on floors in Lucknow and is produced by Sircar and directed by Sweden-based filmmaker Pooja Kaul. As per reports, the film will be screened at multiple well known film festivals around the world before having a theatrical release in India. This is the first time Babil will be collaborating with Shoojit as well as Big B. The latter has however been directed by the filmmaker in Piku and Gulabo Sitabo. Babil meanwhile, will be soon making his acting debut in the Netflix film Qala.
