The upcoming biopic of late Goan musician, Joseph Manuel Da Rocha titled ‘Slow-Joe’ was announced at the Cannes Marche du Film reception. The film will star veteran actor Jackie Shroff in the lead and is a Singapore-France-India co-production. The film will be released in French, English and Konkani. 

Musician, Joseph Manuel Da Rocha also known as Slow-Joe was a heroine addict and drug dealer. He was disowned by his family at 50 and returned to Goa to live a simple life. French man Fredric De La Chapelle met Joe in Goa and set up the music group with Joe titled ‘Slow Joe & The Ginger Accident’. They released their first album Sunny Side Up in 2011 that was a hit in India, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. 

The group’s third album Let Me Be Gone', was released after Joe’s death in February 2017. Details of the biopic Slow-Joe are yet under wraps.
