Ace lyricist- scriptwriter fondly recalls his blockbuster film 'Deewaar' and his collaboration with Salim Khan 50 years ago.

Directed by Yash Chopra the film 'Deewaar' starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, Nirupa Roy, Neetu Singh and Parveen Babi, holds a special place for Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan. The Salim -Javed duo gave many blockbusters to Hindi cinema, wherein super hits like Deewar and Sholey stand prominent.

Javed Akhtar wrote a post mentioning how time flies, which reads, " Deewaar was released on 21st January 1975. Theek pachaas saal pehle (exactly 50 years back). How time passes so quietly and so quickly. It is happening all the time but remains a wonder."

Deewar was a story of two brothers who  struggled to survive in the slums of Mumbai. While the elder one Vijay (Amitabh Bacchan)  grows up and embraces crime for livelihood the younger one Ravi ( Shashi Kapoor) becomes an honest police officer.

The film is known for its famous  dialogues written by Salim -Javed "Mere paas maa hai” and “Davar sahab, main aaj bhi phenke hue paise nahi uthata” which have stayed through the decades and are still used as punch lines.
