Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is known to back meaningful and interesting subjects over the years. The production house recently released Shershaah starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani. The film was based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra. The film got rave reviews and now Dharma is all set to back a film on the life of Gandhian freedom fighter Usha Mehta. As per sources the script for the same has been under works for a while now and extensive research has been carried out to get all the facts about her right. Interestingly the script will be based on the play Khar, written by Amatya Goradia and Pritesh Sodha

Darab Farooqui is working on the script, adapting it for the Bollywood folks. Casting for the same is on the way. The yet to be titled film will tell the story of Usha Mehta and how she ran an underground pirate radio called Congress Radio during the Quit India Movement while making things difficult for the British Government. Meanwhile Karan Johar’s next will be the Janhvi Kapoor starrer Dostana 2.
