The road to OSCARS in India has never been easy and is often controversy and debate surrounds the film selection. The Film Federation Of India (FFI) is the body who selects the official film entry from India to the Oscars. This year Kiran Rao’s ‘Laapataa Ladies’ is the official selection from India to the OSCARS chosen over ‘All We Imagine As Light’ which won Cannes Grand Prix. This raises the question is India again failing at the OSCARS…? The debate is on and is heating up. In critics opinion, director Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’ had better chance over Kiran Rao’s ‘Laapataa Ladies’. However FFI chose ‘Laapataa Ladies’ justifying it was painting better picture if Indian cinema and culture to the world audience. Let’s see what OSCARS have to say about his.
