Call her melody queen or nightingale of India, words fall short when praising the contribution late Lata Mangeshkar has given the music world with her spectacular voice. The ‘Lo Chali Main’ singer left us on February 6th 2022 but her memory is still alive within every Indian. To honor her memory, the Indian government has announced the ‘Lata Mangeshkar Sangeet Academy’, which will be built in Kalina Campus of Mumbai University. 

 

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had previously announced that another music academy as well as a museum will be built in Indore to honor her. He had said, “Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore and had a deep connection with Madhya Pradesh. A music academy will be set up in the name of Lata Mangeshkar, where children will get education of music. A museum will also be built where all the songs of Lata didi will be available. Her statue will also be installed in Indore and Lata Mangeshkar Award will be given every year on her birthday.”

 

Late Lata Mangeshkar’s last recorded album was for Yash Chopra’s 2004 hit Veer Zaara starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta.
