On 27th February every year India celebrates Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din, also known as Marathi Language Day. Marathi Language Day has been celebrated for decades, paying homage to the respected Marathi poet Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar, famously known as Kusumagraj. 27th February marks as birth anniversary of Kusumagraj. He was born in the year 1912 in Pune, Maharashtra.

Court:


Released in 2014 Court is a legal drama movie directed by Chaitanya Tamhane. The movie narrates the story of social activist and protest singer, Narayan Kamble. The movie was awarded with the National Film Award for Best Feature Film at the 62nd National Film Awards. Court was directed by Chaitanya Tamhane.

Harishchandrachi Factory:


Released in 2009 Harishchandrachi Factory is a biographical movie directed by Paresh Mokashi. The movie is based on the life of legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke who made the first Indian feature movie Raja Harishchandra in 1913. The movie was awarded with Best Feature Film in Marathi at 56th National Film Awards.

Fandry:


Directed by Nagraj Manjule 'Fandry deals with the sensitive subject of caste-based discrimination. The movie revolves around a teenage boy who falls in love with an upper-caste girl. The movie won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director at the 61st National Film Awards.

Deool:


Directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni the movie features Nana Patekar and Girish Kulkarni in the lead cast. Deool is a dark comedy genre movie that delves into the effects of globalization on small towns and villages in India. The movie won many awards at the 59th National Film Awards. They won feature awards such as  Best Feature Film, Best Actor (Girish Kulkarni), and Best Dialogue (Girish Kulkarni). 

Killa:


Killa was awarded with Best Feature Film in Marathi award at the 62nd National Film Awards in 2015. Directed by Avinash Arun the movie narrates a heartwarming story of an 11-year-old boy who tries to adapt to a new life.

Natrang:


Natrang revolves around Guna who pursues his passion of becoming a Tamasha artiste and faces the backsplash of society. The movie was based on a novel written by Marathi author Dr. Anand Yadav. Directed by Ravi Jadhav Natrang won Best Marathi Film in 2010.
