After being captive in the reality show Lock Upp’s jail like house for nearly 70 days, comedian Munawar Faruqui has emerged a winner! Along with an exciting trophy, he received a cash prize of Rs 20 Lakhs for winning the show. Payal Rohatgi and Anjali Arora were declared the first and second runner-up, respectively for the show. Azma Fallah and Shivam Sharma were the other two finalists for Lock Upp.

Munawar won the reality show solely on the basis of viewer’s votes and also the last word from host Kangana Ranaut who picked him as the most popular contestant of Lock Upp. Speaking of Faruqui, the comedian has always been controversy’s child. He spent a month in actual jail last year for his insensitive jokes on Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

When asked what made Munawar choose Lock Upp, he had previously said, “Firstly, I don’t think there’s anything wrong in being controversial. It only means that people did not hear your side of the story, or maybe you were taken out of context. I never wanted to be a part of controversies. I never went and told the media my statement to cause some bawaal (commotion). The part of my video that had hurt people, I removed it immediately. It was the public that played it around for a year and made it news. I never wanted to be controversial, they made me one.”
