Oscar 2023 is going to start in a few days. Filmmakers across the world are eager to see their films win awards. The 95th Academy Awards ceremony turned special for Indians as the song Natu Natu from the Telugu film RRR has been nominated in the Best Original Song category. Natu Natu has already won the Golden Globe Award, due to which the expectations of its victory have increased. This is the first time in the history of Oscar Awards that an Indian song has reached the nominations.

This is also important for RRR because the film directly staked its claim at the Oscars. India's official entry Chhelo Show is already out in the race for nominations. Bhanu Athaiya

India has been represented at the Oscars since the fifties, but Bhanu Athaiya won the first Oscar for the film Gandhi. He was given the Oscar Award in the Best Costume Design category for this 1983 film. This biopic film of Mahatma Gandhi won five Oscars including Best Film Award and Best Actor Award.

Satyajit Ray

The country's veteran filmmaker Satyajit Ray was also awarded the Oscar Award. He received the Oscar Award for Honorary Lifetime Achievement. However, he was unable to attend the Oscar ceremony to receive the award. He received this award for his invaluable contribution to the cinema world.
