Black Knight Films and Endemol Shine India, a Banijay company, have announced that they will adapt the popular Danish/Swedish scripted series Bron/Broen (The Bridge). Saif Ali Khan will star in the brand-new original Hindi version, which Black Knight Films will jointly produce.

Because it can be understood and appreciated by a global audience accustomed to living in a world surrounded by borders, The Bridge's concept has universal appeal. The show begins with the discovery of a body on a border shared by two nations, with half of the body in one and the other in the other. Detectives from both sides are forced to collaborate in order to solve the crime as a result of this discovery, which prompts a joint investigation by the police departments of the two regions.

The unique global premise of The Bridge, a treasure from the Banijay library, has led to its translation into multiple languages. It is set between the United States and Mexico, the United Kingdom and France, Germany and Austria, Singapore and Malaysia, and Russia and Estonia. “The Bridge's script is powerful because it speaks a language that audiences from all over the world understand and enjoy. Rishi Negi, CEO of Endemol Shine India, stated, "We look forward to recreating the magic of this show to captivate the Indian audience. It is a global story that can be made distinctively local, using the basic premise of the series."
