Based on Kalidasa's play 'Abhigyan Shaakuntalam', the film was earlier scheduled to release in November, but the release date was postponed due to post-production and 3D work on Samantha Ruth Prabhu's film. After which now this film has got a new release date. Samantha Ruth Prabhu has shared the new poster of her upcoming film on her Instagram account, which features actor Dev Mohan alongside her. Dev Mohan is playing the role of Dushyant in the film. In this poster both Samantha and Dev have their eyes closed and Dushyant's palace and Shaakuntala's hut have been made in the background. Sharing this poster, Samantha wrote in the caption, 'Get ready to watch the epic love story. Releasing on 17 February 2023 in Shakuntalam Theatres.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan starrer this film will not only be released in Telugu but will be released pan India. Apart from 2D, 'Shakuntalam' will also be released in 3D. Apart from its original language Telugu, this Pan India release film will also be released in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi. Let us tell you that the Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer film was earlier scheduled to release in theaters on November 4, 2022, but the production work of the film got delayed due to 3-D conversion.
