The Mumbai crime branch has taken businessman Raj Kundra into custody on Monday night for being a key conspirator in the creation of pornographic films. He was publishing the content through various apps. The case was incidentally filed against Raj in February this year and enough evidence has been collected against him. Hemant Nagrale, Commissioner of Mumbai Police stated, “There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this. Investigation is in progress.”

One accused was identified as Umesh Kamat who was earlier the managing director of VIAAN industries in which Raj is a chairman and non-executive director. The crime branch stated that after shooting the porn videos, the accused was sending them to an international company through ‘WeTransfer’ to evade the Indian Law. He was doing this sitting in Kundra’s office. Kundra was arrested after hours of interrogation in the pornography case. So far 10 people have been arrested in this case and Shilpa Shetty’s husband is one of them. The Property Cell of the Mumbai Police also recently busted a racket of people making porn films under the pretext of making short films for OTT. Actress Gehana Vasisth and eight others have been taken into custody for the same. 

The gang used to give work to aspiring models and actors on the pretext of offering meaty roles in films on OTT and then shoot porn films. The accused was earning 2-3 lakhs per video but the victims were given about Rs 20-25,000. The police have apparently seized equipment worth Rs 5.68 lakh used for shooting porn films from a bungalow too.
