Soumitra Chattopadhyay( Chatterjee), who has been awarded Legion d’ Honor for his artistic contribution to Bengali films for over half a century has presented a beautiful and thought provoking story with Boitorini (The River Between). The Bengali short film depicts the tale of a widower named Sougata Roychoudhury who wants to find an escape from his lonely life. His son and his family has abandoned him, and his inflated ego will stop at nothing to find answers to questions that are troubling his mind. 

Sougata is an eminent poet and the literary society in the serene Kusumpur forest has decided to honor his contributions. Just when he is coming to terms with his lonely life, a tragedy shakes up his world. He then realizes that there is a flowing river that runs between life and death. One cannot escape it and has to be ready to cross it at any given time. 

Boitorini is Directed by Anindya Dutta and written by Anindya Dutta(screenplay) and Saikat Mukherjee(original story). The award-winning Bengali short film also stars Dhiman Chakraborty, Sulakshana Saha Chakraborty and Abhishek Mitra. It is available on the OTT platform Hoichoi.
