Tamil Superstar Suriya's magnum-opus Kanguva opened with 40 Cr worldwide on the First day 14th November in theatres despite mixed reviews.

Directed by Siva, the fantasy action drama has Suriya playing two roles. The film is an impeccable cinematic experience that delivers an intense journey from start to finish as a mix of action, emotion and artistry, that hinges on Surya’s performance which is compelling and heartfelt, although the first half is a bit slow.

The film opened with a slow start since two early morning shows (4 am in Kerala and 4.30 a.m. in Andhra Pradesh) were delayed by nearly an hour due to technical issues. Despite the delay, the film has raked in nearly Rs 40 crore globally. The film had an overall 37.27 per cent occupancy in Tamil (2D) shows and has major business coming from Coimbatore, Dindigul Kochi and Chennai, while the Tamil (3D) shows, it was a little higher, that is 49.89 per cent.
