Veteran filmmaker and producer Suresh Jindal passed away today after a prolonged illness. He was seriously ill and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in New Delhi for over a month. He was 80 years old and will be cremated tomorrow at around 2 pm at the Lodhi crematorium in Delhi.

Known for producing films such as Rajnigandha, Katha and Satyajit Ray's Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Suresh played a big role in redefining parallel cinema in India. He wrote the book My Adventures with Satyajit Ray: The Making of Shatranj Ke Khiladi, which detailed his association with Ray and how Jindal, a novice producer at the time, struck an unlikely collaboration with the master filmmaker.

His family sent out an official statement regarding his death. read the statement, “In our hearts forever and always…Suresh Jindal. With deep sorrow we inform you about the demise of Mr Suresh Jindal who left for his heavenly abode on 24.11.2022. The cremation will be taking place at the Lodhi crematorium, 2 pm”.
