Bollywood actress Vidya Balan was her scary best in Priyadarshan’s 2007 hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Her role was well defined and stayed with the audience adding that touch of horror to the comedy drama. The Sherni actress is now all set to reprise her role as Manjulika in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Aaryan. In an interview recently the filmmaker confirmed, “If the film is Bhool Bhulaiyaa, she has to be there in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2…Let the rest be a surprise!”

In 2020 Vidya had however denied being part of the film saying, “Let's just say I am not in the film. So, I am not going to say anything more.” But things have changed now and she is the only character apart from Rajpal Yadav who has been retained in the sequel. However the film is quite different from the Akshay Kumar starrer says Bazmee. He had said, “If we make another psychological thriller, there will be too many comparisons with the first edition. We have upped the ante in horror. There is no buffoonery, we've opted [to fill it with] situational comedy instead. And Kartik is extremely natural and comfortable at comedy.” The film also stars Tabu and Kiara Advani.
