The cornerstones of the Deshmukh family, Ashalata and Anuradha, who have been presented as perfect women, deal with life pragmatically and engage in conflict when necessary as they work to ensure the welfare of their family. The matriarch of the Deshmukh family, Ashalata Deshmukh, is respected for her judgement and wisdom. In defiance of her wishes, her son Ravi weds Anuradha, a girl who is incredibly straightforward, reasonable, and self-respecting. Unbeknownst to Anuradha, she married Ravi against the wishes of his mother. The plot is on how she would win Ravi's support and handle the family.
