This is the tale of a father, two brothers, and a family. The father is Major Hemraj Sharma (Pran), a war veteran who became disabled in the most recent war and requires crutches to walk. The twin brothers are Arun Sharma (Rishi Kapoor) and Kewal Sharma (Actor Rajesh Leher, a lookalike of Rishi Kapoor, who also played the lead role in the film Subh Din of Rajshri Productions). Although the Major has a soft spot for Kewal, he openly disapproves of Arun, alienating him in the process. Arun is frequently urged to make sacrifices for Kewal, including giving up his relationship with Rekha (Zaheera).
