Harshvardhan Rane was born in Rajahmundry but was brought up in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.  His grandfather was an army lieutenant.

Harsh or Harsha as he is addressed by his family and friends joined the Shaheed Bhagat Singh College in New Delhi to pursue a course but had later dropped out to join Barry John Acting Studio to be trained as an actor. He had started venturing into theatre and was a part of the Indian adaptation of Tennesse Williams works at some Hyderabad based theatre group.  Later he continued to work on a freelance for film branding enterprises.  As his interest was to join films he moved to Mumbai where he got his first opportunity in a television serial called, ‘Left Right Left Right’ on Sab TV in 2008.

Rane is interested in sports and his favourite sport is Football.   He believes his sporting activity helps him stay fit. An ardent fan of Cricket too.

Harshvardhan Rane is best known or remembered for his role in ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ which received mixed reviews. He made his debut with the Telugu films ‘Thakita Thakita’ in 2010 and’ Prema Ishq Kaadhal’ in 2013 , ‘Anaamika’ in 2014.

He also appeared in ‘Naa Istam’ and ‘Avunu’’ and thereafter acted in several Telugu films in thriller films and comedy movies. 

He had made his first cameo appearance in films like ‘Fidaa’ and ‘Bengal Tiger’ .   He was also slated to make his debut with Sanjay Leela Bansali’s film ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram- Leela’ in 2013 however he had opted out as he would have to commit on a contract for 11 months Therefore his debut was ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ as a hardcore youngster who lived on his terms and had the rough and tough look of someone not so welcome in the society His next release was ‘Paltan’ and he has many projects in Telugu and is very soon to appear in JP Dutta’s directed film.

Harshvardhan was one among the ‘Most Desirable Men’ awards in 2015, 2016 and 2017, three consecutive years.

His upcoming next film is ‘Taish’ directed by Bejoy Nambiar.
