Many know and remember Swwapnil Joshi as the ‘ Lord Krishna’ in Ramanand Sagar’s “Shree Krishna”.
Swwapnil lived in Girgaum a South suburb of Mumbai.
He did his schooling from Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsi Charitable Institution in Mumbai.
He studied B.Com in Sydenham College in Mumbai. Currently lives in Kandivili with his wife and children.
At the age of nine he was selected to play the role of young Kush in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Uttar Ramayana” and later he was once again selected for the role of Lord Krishna in ‘Shree Krishna ‘ in 1993. He took a break and concentrated on his education and returned to limelight with his first role as a young actor with Sanjeev Bhattacharya’s show Campus.
He has acted in several Marathi films. In Hindi he was a part of the film, Hudd Kar Di, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Hare Kkaanch ki Chooodiyan to name a few.t
Swwapnil also played the role of Inder in the popular television serial Amanat telecasted on Zee TV. He played the role of Dhruv in Kehta Hai Dil as a parallel lead.
He got his first break in Bollywood films in 1997 in the film, ‘Ghulam-E-Mustafa’ , followed by his debut in Marathi film ‘Manini’ in 2004. Thereafter he has had a successful career in Marathi films .
Swwapnil portrayed as Dr. Prakash in the popular show Bhabhi and played the role of Arjun the younger son of Supriya Pilgaonkar in the film Kadvee Khatee Meethi which was a superhit comedy film made with a sequel of Tu Tu Main Main. That had got very popular on the small screen among the audience and a much loved teleserial .
He has hosted many talent shows like Chota packet Bada Dhamaka, he thereafter participated in Sony Tv’s show Mr & Ms. TV in which he won it along with Purvi Joshi.
In 2008 he acted in the multi star cast film Checkmate. He got popular with the role of Chingya in the comedy film Amhi Satpute.His stint in Marathi television serial were with Adhuri Ek Kahani Tere Gharchya Samor, Ardhangini.
Swwapnil had a small role in the film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and in 2010 he played the lead role in the romantic Marathi film Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai opposite Mukta Barve. The hot star on screen pair Mukta Barve and Swwapnil Joshi are considered as Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan of Marathi films.
He played the role of Yash Kumar in the Hindi film ‘ The Life Zindagi’ in 2011.
Joshi later turned his attention on selecting films that were more of comedy as he was comfortable doing these light roles and has been winner of many comedy shows like Comedy Circus, Chinchpokli to China, Comedy Circus-20-20, Comedy Circus ka superstar, Comedy Circus ka Tarzan to name a few.
In the Comedy Circus – Maha Sangram in the eight season he was successful and won the award along with his partner VIP Joshi . He was a part of the Ladies Special on ZEE TV.
Swapnil Joshi has had an illustrious career in the filmline and show business. He was seen in small and big roles such as Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo, Bajega Band Baaja, followed by Papad Pol-Shahabuddin Rathod Ki Rangeen Duniya, Golmaal Hai Bhai Sab GolMaal hai. He also anchored many shows like Eka Peksha Ek that was aired on Zee Marathi.
In 2011 he played an epic role of Siddhanth opposite his favourite co-star Mukta Barve.
He has been judge for many reality shows and had his own radio show named ‘The Swapnil Joshi Show’ on FM 93.5. He acted in films like Duniyadari and Mangalastak
In 2014 he was successful at the box office with the film Pyaar Vali Love Story and hosted a talk show Dhabal-Ek-Timepss on Star Pravah. He acted in the film Mitwaa in 2015 which received positive response and was declared a superhit film. His next release was Welcome Zindagi and then featured in Tu Hi Re .
His last few releases were Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai Part 1 and 2. In 2016 was his initial appearance in the film Friends.
He also starred in Laal Ishq produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali , Fugay , and Marathi film Bhikari. In March 2018 hosted quiz shows called Swwapnil Joshi Fan Quiz.
