Kesari directed by Anurag Singh , produced at the Dharma Productions, Azure Entertainment, Zee Studios and Cape of Good Films. The film was released on 21st March 2019.
Kesari film is based on the true story of the bravest battles that India ever fought. The battle of Saragarhi in the year 1897 when the British Empire had conquered most of India was trying to infiltrate to Afghanistan. The Fort Saragrahi in the North Western Frontier Provinces was a small communication post that was used for relaying messages between the two military forts. The two posts were Gullistan and Lockhardt.
Kesari marks the Sikh Symbol which symbolizes valor and pride and the willingness to die on duty. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Ishar Singh a proud warrior who has preferred to live with his own rules and is often on a direct conflict with the orders from his British Officers. The film further unfolds when Ishar has been sent to Saragarhi where he is on duty to discipline 20 unruly sikh soldiers.. And he not only trains them or disciplines them, but also leads them into the battle. The ratio is 21 Sikhs against an army of 10,000 Afghans on the battlefield.
. As a punishment, Ishar is sent to Saragarhi where a bunch of 20 unruly, undisciplined Sikh soldiers await him. And it is this bunch of cheeky but lovable rouges that Ishar leads into the battle when an army of 10,000 Afghani Pathans turn up at Saragarhi on the 12th of Sept 1897. It is now 21 Sikhs vs 10,000 Afghans on the battlefield.
