Fans of Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are waiting to see the most awaited film that will see them both collaborate for the first time. The filmmaker’s masterpiece Gangubai Kathiawadi was to release theatrically on February 18, but was postponed yet again due to the covid situation out of control. But the makers have finally eased the anxiety in fans by announcing that the film based on the brothels of Kamathipura will release on 25th February, which is a day after SLB’s 59th birthday.

Gangubai Kathiawadi will be Bhansali’s 10th film as a director and also the second to release in his birthday month. Previously his Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji starrer Black had released during his birthday and was a huge commercial as well as a critical hit. It also won three National Awards. The same expectations are from the upcoming Alia Bhatt starrer too.

The Padmaavat director reportedly doesn’t believe in celebrating birthdays. He had previously said in an interview, “As children, my sister and I had no birthday parties. We would take a packet of sweets to school and distribute it to our classmates. That was it. We never had birthday parties. Nor were we allowed to go to parties. Now, it has become a habit to be on my own on my birthday. And I am very happy that way.” Gangubai Kathiawadi will have a theatrical release after a grand world premiere at the prestigious 72nd Berlin International Film Festival held between February 10th and 20th.
