Mumbai based Sunny Singh is a model turned actor, and is a theatre artist as well. Is into martial arts before he made his debut in the Bollywood films.
Son of Bollywood action director Jai Singh Nijjar, Sunny grew up watching stunt films and was closely associated to the film line, watching every little detail how the film industry works. He had made up his mind to join the films but was being patient for the right opportunity to come his way and hence did not rush to take up unless he was happy to accept the role.
His father has been in the film industry for the past 35 to 40 years.
Sunny did his schooling from St. Columbus in New Delhi and later did his graduation in Bachelors of Arts majoring in Economics.
He is a Sikh by birth.
Singh gives credit to the director Luv Ranjan who gave him his first break with films like Akaash Vani in the year 2013, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 in 2015 and Sonu Ke Titu ki Sweety in 2018 followed by De De Pyaar De in 2019. However, the actor recalls his struggle in his early days before he got his first break, that he did a lot of auditions for ad films and did a few print shoots. He was humiliated too in the industry despite having a father who is known to the film fraternity. But the young actor remained glued to his goal to achieve in the film industry. He did a reality check most of the times and most of the times his meeting with the directors did not work out successful for him. His most popular costar is Kartik Aaryan with whom he did three of Luv Ranjan’s films.
Sunny’s career graph started in 2007 with his debut in the Star Plus popular television serial called Kasauti Zindagi Kay wherein he plays the role of love interest to the character essayed by Kratika Sengar .
In 2008, he had played another television role of Karan in Shakuntala.
2011 came with his big break with Madhur Bhandarkar’s comedy film, Dil to Baccha Hai ji where he appeared in a cameo role with the lead stars Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya. The film however fared badly at the box office so his struggles to continue in the industry continued for a while.
In 2013, he starred in the film Akaash Vani , a romantic drama film with co-star Kartik Aaryan but the film lead to commercial failure too.
In 2015, Sunny re-joined with Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy film Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 a film that is a sequel of the same title. The film surprisingly grossed at world total of US$ 12 million and the film emerged as one of the highest grossing films of the year. This lead to his stardom success as well.
In 2018, Luv Ranjan director once again cast him for the third time in the film Sonu Ke Titu ki Sweety starring with co-star Kartik Aaryan.
2019 saw him in a cameo role once again in Akiv Ali’s directorial debut film, De De Pyaar De , a romantic comedy film based on a story of a 50 year old businessman who falls in love with a 26 year old girl. The film had the stalwarts as Ajay Devgn, and Tabu , but his role in the film got noticed by the audience and the critics. He also starred in Jhootha Kahin Ka alongside with actor Jimmy Sheirgill.
Sunny’s latest and most recent is Jai Mummy Di ,a romantic comedy film in which he will be starring opposite costar sonnali Seygall, Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillon. he film is scheduled to release in January 2020.
