Dev Anand, the
charismatic and legendary actor, writer, director and producer who has graced
over 100 films left a lasting mark on Indian Cinema. This year, on September 26th,
he would have celebrated his 100th birthday. To commemorate this
milestone and honor the icon, Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) has collaborated
with the National Film Achieve of India (NFAI) to present a spectacular film
festival that will take the audience back in time.
The festival is titled
‘Dev Anand@100 – Forever Young’ is set to take place on the 23rd and
24th September, spanning across 20 cities and 55 cinemas. The lineup
includes iconic Dev Anand films: CID (1956), Guide (1965), Jewel Thief (1967)
and Johny Mera Naam (1970).
“CID” takes viewers
into the world of crime investigation, where Dev Anand plays a police
inspector. It is considered one of the finest thrillers in Indian Cinema.
“Guide” is
based on R.K. Narayan’s Novel is story of a tour guide who falls in love with a
married woman, a stellar story of romance and drama.
“Jewel Thief” is a gripping spy thriller heist
film where Dev Anand’s character finds himself mistaken for a look-alike
criminal
“Johny Mera
Naam”, he plays a police officer with the classic tale of long-lost brothers
reuniting.
FHF is a non-profit
organization set up by Shivendra Singh Dungarpur. It is dedicated to
preservation and restoration of the moving image and to spread awareness about
the language of cinema. NFDC is the central agency, the goal is to plan and
promote the development of Indian Film Industry. The two collaborated to
restore and reintroduce four of Dev Anand’s classic movies to introduce the
actor to new generation and give a feeling of nostalgia to older generation.
The festival is third of its kind by FHF, following ‘Bachchan Back to the
beginning’ and ‘Dilip Kumar – Hero of Heroes’ which was organized in 2022.

Dungarpur, the founder of FHF expressed his excitement, ‘WE wanted to honor his
legacy by screening four of his milestone films. The films are among my
personal favorites as I consider Goldie Anand one of the most stylish directors
of Indian cinema. The festival also marks an important collaboration between
Film heritage foundation and NFDC-NFAI who have restored the four films and
partnered with us to enable us to showcase these films.

Secretary (Films) and Managing Director of NFDC, also emphasized on the
significance of experiencing Dev Anand’s movies on the big screen once again.
He noted that this joint endeavor between NFDC and FHF, along with INOX and
PVR, reflects their shared commitment to preserving India’s cinematic heritage.
He also expressed their aspiration to sustain this collaboration to allow
broader public access to the gems of Indian cinema in the quality they were
meant to be seen.
Audiences in cities
like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow,
Kolkata, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Nagpur, New Delhi, Gwalior, Rourkela, Kochi
and Mohali will have the opportunity to experience these timeless classics in 4K
resolution at PVR and INOX.
