The recently announced National Film Awards 2022 saw Tamil film Soorarai Pottru win a staggering five awards including best feature film, best actor for Suriya, best actress, best screenplay and best background score. The film is now being adapted in Hindi with Akshay Kumar to step into the shoes of lead actor Suriya. The film will be helmed by its original director Sudha Kongara and original music composer G V Prakash Kumar. 

Prakash has announced that he will be creating a completely new album for the remake. Stating this he shared on his Twitter account, “Finished recording three songs for #sooraraipottru Hindi remake. Will be a completely fresh album with new tunes and songs. And new bgscore ... super charged about it.” 

Soorarai Pottru tells the tale of a man’s (Maara) ambitious project to make air travel affordable for all. The story is loosely inspired by Air Deccan founder Captain G R Gopinath. The film went on floors in April 2021 and stars Radhika Madan in the lead.
