Rekha, who was one of the beautiful actresses known for her versatility and talent, was once amongst the highest-paid actresses and was in the limelight after delivering some impactful performances. Ranjeet, who once had signed her for one of the films, recalled an incident wherein he got frustrated after a certain point and asked her to return the signing amount as he couldn't bear her tantrums. It was that time when Ranjeet was fed up with the sort of roles he was being offered and desired to create his own films.

In a formal conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Ranjeet said, 'I didn't have signed films for almost a decade because I used to get frustrated. When I started to create films, irrespective of the bond I had shared with my fellow co-stars, I would definitely pay them for their contributions. Although they hesitated to take money from me, still I insisted on them. Similarly, I informed Rekha also that you are my friend, but if I am signing you for a film, I want you to quote me an amount, and I'll pay you, and she did as well. Later, I realized that somebody else who also had signed her for one of the films was paying her a huge amount of five lakh rupees, which was much less than what she had told me.'

Further, Ranjeet said, 'I had an idea that she would make the team of producers wait outside her house for hours and wouldn't meet them. It occurred when I was narrating a film's story to her, and I had my team waiting outside, but she didn't let them in, and when I talked to her about this, she said, 'Let them all wait outside.'
