The makers of JP dutta's 1997 blockbuster 'Border' announced that the Bollywood Actor Varun Dhawan has started the shooting for its sequel 'Border 2'. Varun Dhawan has joined the cast in Jhansi, Madhya Pradesh for the shoot in the army cantonment.


Directed by Anurag Singh, the film will also see the return of the Veteran actor Sunny Deol alongside Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. The sequel seems to be based on the 1999 Kargil War. 


Directed by J. P. Dutta, the original film Border was set during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 based on the battle of Longewala in 1971.The film had a huge cast including Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt and Sharbani Mukherjee.


 Varun honoured the "Real Heroes” of India on Army Day on Wednesday and took to Instagram, where he shared two pictures of himself with the jawans. In another picture he posed with the soldiers next to a tank. He wrote on the post, “Honoring the real heroes of India this #ArmyDay. Proud to be with them. #Border2 #prep."


Border 2 is backed by JP Dutta and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, which is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026
