Veteran Filmmaker and Producer Pritish Nandy passed away on Wednesday at the age of 73. He died due to a sudden cardiac arrest at his Mumbai Residence. As a former Rajya Sabha Member from Maharashtra Pritish Nandy then-united the Shiv Sena. He wore many hats as a parliamentarian journalist, media and television personality, painter, animal activist, Filmmaker, producer, TV figure and streaming content creator, who made significant contributions to journalism, poetry, and Indian cinema.


With his bold informative style of writing Nandy revolutionised print journalism in the 80s.In early 2000, as a producer, Nandy made a significant impact with films like Sur, Kaante, Jhankaar Beats, Chameli, and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Pyaar Ke Side Effects under Pritish Nandy Communications. Recently, his company dwelled on creating web series for OTTs with Four More Shots Please! and the anthology series Modern Love Mumbai. He also backed the series titled Ziddi Girls for Amazon Prime Video. The fourth season of Four More Shots Please! is in the making.


Actors Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Kareena Kapoor, Jaya Bachchan, Rakhee Gulzar and Manoj Bajpayee pay Tribute and Remember Pritish Nandy pay and the film fraternity pays homage to the veteran filmmaker and producer.


Actor Anupam Kher recalled his memories with Pritish in an emotional post on his Instagram, “Deeply deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friend's #PritishNandy! An amazing poet, writer, filmmaker and a brave and unique editor/journalist! He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai. We shared lots of things in common. He was also one of the most fearless people I had come across. Always Larger than life. I learnt so many things from him. Off-late we didn’t meet much. But there was a time when we were inseparable! I will never forget when he surprised me by putting me on the cover of Filmfare and more importantly #TheIllustratedWeelky. He was the true definition of yaaron ka yaar! I will miss you and our times together my friend. Rest well.#HeartBroken.”


Kareena Kapoor paying her tribute to Nandy her producer of Chameli posted pictures on her X handle one of which shows her smiling and chatting with Nandy in between shots in an iconic red Chameli costume. Kareena posted the red heart, folded hands, and infinity emojis with the pictures. Sanjay Dutt shared memories from the 2002 action thriller Kaante and 2005 Shabd, both produced by Nandy, wrote on X with a black-and-white picture of Pritish, “A true creative genius and a kind soul, you will be missed, sir. #PritishNandy (folded hands).”


Anil Kapoor also wrote on X with a picture of Nandy, “Shocked and heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend Pritish Nandy. A fearless editor, a brave soul, and a man of his word, he embodied integrity like no other.” Veteran Media Baron, Filmmaker and Producer Pritish Nandy was close to Bollywood Veterans Jaya Bachchan, and  Rakhee Gulzar who shared their fond memories with him. Rakhi Gulzar remembers him as a true connoisseur of arts and a man of letters. He loved cinema, poetry and theatre. As a journalist, he could bring out that element in an interviewee's personality that no one could.


Jaya Bachchan remembers Nandy as the one who brought a new rhythm to journalism, who was not an entertaining journalist but an erudite man. Remembering her interview with Nandy Bacchan said things which got her into trouble. She called him a rabble-rouser in the most positive way. Actor Manoj Bajpayee compares Pritish Nandi with Keith Rupert  Murdoch an Australian business magnate and investor,and says Nandy was a media baron and every ambitious journalist wants to be like him. He evoked respect and awe!
