Karan Johar pays tribute to Yash Chopra through the song ‘Tum Kya Mile’

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani‘ is one of the most awaited films of the year 2023. Directed by Karan Johar, the teaser of the film was recently released, which was well received by the audience. Today the first song of the film ‘Tum Kya Mile’ is all set to release and before that Karan has shared a special note. A while back he had shared a picture of the song and told how he wanted a love song that could pay tribute to his mentor Yash Chopra.

In his long post, Karan Johar also revealed that ‘Tum Kya Mile’ was Alia’s first shoot after giving birth to her daughter Raha. She wrote that she felt bad for wearing chiffon sarees and shooting amidst the snow-capped mountains of Kashmir. He also shared that Ranveer was nervous during the shoot, as it was his ‘first lip sync mountain love song’. Within hours ‘Tum Kya Mile’ will be yours. I remember initially my instinct was that I wanted to film a love song that was an unabashed tribute to my mentor Yash Chopra. My brain said you cannot match it or even dare to emulate it but the ardent lover of snow, chiffon, stunning locales of Kashmir and sheer romance made a better impression on me. Pritam Dada and I yearned for a song for ages and it was unattainable or it would not be true.

My deepest gratitude to Vaibhavi Merchant, who took the memo better than me and took charge perfectly and being a Yash Chopra lover herself, she gave her heart to our song. He further added that this is Alia’s first shoot after the birth of her angel and I apologize for freezing her in Manish Malhotra‘s chiffon. An ailing Ranveer was nervous during the shoot, as it was his first lip sync mountain love song. We are back in the valleys to sing Ishq Wala Lip Sync Chiffon Saree. I hope you feel as much love as we have felt the cold. This is for you Yash uncle.

The song ‘Tum Kya Mile‘ is composed by Pritam. While Amitabh Bhattacharya has written it and Arijit Singh has decorated it with his melodious voice. Fans are looking very excited about this song. Karan Johar is returning to the directorial world after almost seven years with the film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani‘.
