We welcome you all to Amitabh Bachchan’s filmy journey and today we will talk about his a film that not many would have heard of. The name of the film is Kasauti released in 1974. The star cast for this film was good starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Pran.
The story goes as Sapna played by Hema Malini is from a very poor family , a slum dweller is running away from a criminal named Heera and her drunken foster father to save her life. Heera has the reputation of a playboy who has his eyes on Sapna. Amit a taxi driver essayed by Amitabh Bachchan saves Sapna from the clutches of Heera but is soon accused of robbery and is imprisoned. Meanwhile Sapna’s mother enraged at her step father kills him.
Amit promises to marry Sapna the moment he is released from the jail but his father refuses to accept the slum dweller Sapna as his daughter-in-law. Heartbroken Sapna decides to walk out of Amit’s life and leaves the city. Amit and his close friend Pyarelal essayed by Pran start searching for Sapna but they do not succeed. Sapna has found a new lease in her life as she is a stage dancer now in Kolkota. She becomes an instant hit on the stage through her mentor, Ashok Babu ( Vijay Sharma) who one day falls in love with her and proposes to her. She leaves Kolkota too and is eventually reunited with Amit.
This romantic thriller drama film is produced and directed by Arvind Sen and the music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji with supporting star cast Ramesh Deo, Abhi Bhattacharya, Sonia Sahni, SulochanaLatkar, Satyen Kapoor, Bharat Bhushan.
Amitabh Bachchn and Hema Malini had come together in this film after they had been paired together in the film GheriChaal. Pran who plays the role of a Nepali has saved this film from becoming a flop. He had a significant role that was much appreciated by the audience. One of his songs,’ Hum bolega to bolee ki bolta hai’ from the film was a super hit.
