No date available for Abdul Rahim’s biopic ‘Maidaan’

Made in collaboration with producer Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, Maidaan has been on its way to its release for the last almost two and a half years. This film is not reaching theaters even next week and the way the date is increasing on the date regarding its release, it is becoming more likely to be released directly on OTT. The date of release of the film in theatres is not fixed and the officials of Zee Studios are not even telling anything clear about it at the moment.

Actor Ajay Devgn‘s finished film ‘Maidaan‘ was first to be released on 27 November 2020. Then its release was extended to 11 December 2020. Due to Kovid, its release date was shifted to 13 August 2021. After August, the release date of the film was shifted to October 15, 2021, on the occasion of Dussehra. This date was changed again and the new date was June 3, 2022.

Actor Ajay Devgn announced another new date on his social media account on February 17, 2023, in order to change the date of the film ‘Maidaan’. This date was also changed and again the new date was 12 May 2023. Even on this date no decision was taken for the release of the film and then the date of 23 June 2023 was fixed. Now this date has also slipped and now it is being speculated that the film will be released on 7th September around Janmashtami, but no official announcement has been made regarding this date yet.

There was a plan to release ‘Maidaan‘ before the film ‘Bholaa‘, but considering the way biopic films were dying at the box office, it was decided to release the film after ‘Bholaa’ so that the film ‘Bholaa’ The success of ‘Maidaan’ should be benefited. But if ‘Bhola’ did not work on its own, then how would it be able to support ‘Maidaan’. Then the release date was fixed for June 23, then a week before this film, due to the release of the film ‘Adipurush‘, the release date was extended.However, experts believe that this date would have been the right time to release ‘Maidaan’, because ‘Maidaan’ could have benefited from the ruckus that has been created regarding ‘Adipurush’.

By the way, it has been discussed in the industry for a long time about the film ‘Maidaan’ that even its distributor, producer company Zee Studios, does not have much faith in the release of this film. Zee Studios has not made any official announcement about this yet, but sources reveal that the company’s officials have discussed several times about releasing the film directly on OTT. The film ‘Maidaan’ is inspired by the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, coach and manager of the national football team. Ajay Devgn is playing the role of Syed Abdul Rahim in this film.
