Rustom Pavri, played by Akshay Kumar is an Indian Naval officer, who has a happy marriage to Cynthia, played by Illeana D’Cruz. Everything seems to be going great till one day after returning from a long deployment in sea, Rustom discovers his wife having an affair with his friend Vikram, played by Arjan Bajwa. After his wife returns home he questions her but finds it unbearable to hear her reply and leaves in anger.
Rustom goes to the Navy Ship’s Armory and gets a pistol, making a trunk call to the defense HQ in New Delhi. Then he goes looking for Vikram and finds him in his room. After an altercation three gun shots are heard by Vikram’s house help who comes in to find Vikram’s body in a pool of blood while Rustom, carrying a pistol in his hand, walks out. He surrenders to the police and the news of his arrest and Vikrams death spreads like wild fire and is printed in the news papers the next day.
Vikram’s sister Priti, played by Esha Gupta pleads to the public prosecutor to give the harshest punishment to Rustom. Meanwhile, Senior Naval officer Prashant, played by Parmeet Sethi sends his aids to Rutom’s house to get some important papers and is unsuccessful.
Cynthia goes to meet Rustom to tell him about Prashant’s men and also confesses the truth about the affair for the first time. She tells him that while he was away for many months she got lonely and sad and that’s when Priti comforted her. Vikram used this as an excuse and tried to get close to her and she fell for his charms. He tricked her into believing; he loved her. She broke up with him before the day Rustom returned but slapped her on being rejected and she left.
The trial begins and Rutom confesses to have killed Vikram in self-defence and he is set free of all accusations. He and Cynthia go to live in Canada. Rustom is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Neeraj Pandey, Aruna Bhatia, Nittin Keni, Suvidesh Shingade, Bhaumik Gondaliya, Ishwar Kapoor,
and Shital Bhatia. The music is composed by Jeet Gannguli, Arko Pravo Mukherjee, Raghav Sachar and Ankit Tiwari.
