Shraddha Kapoor has been a highly influential actress of modern Hindi cinema with a string of highly successful and sought after characters in a short time. She has in a short time served as a not only an actress of a fine quality but also a playback singer and has written lyrics too for some of the songs she has sung. Shraddha Kapoor has been able to deliver some memorable performances in critically acclaimed movies and has rose to the ranks of the top most heroines in Bollywood at this point of time in a career, though we see her acting in very few selected films and she has been choosing her roles very carefully compared to her contemporaries. She is one of the few actresses who follow a method acting approach in some ways. Shraddha Kapoor being born to Famous Hindi actor Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kapoor to a family full of actors; her brother and two aunts are also actor’s in the film industry. Shraddha Kapoor remembers that her upbringing was mainly “boisterous and tomboyish” which led her to develop a strong character from early on in her childhood.Shraddha after completing her schooling from Jamnabai Narsee school and American School of Bombay, after which she went to do a study on psychology at Boston university but dropped her studies after the first year when she received an offer to act in her first movie. Shraddha Kapoor also had turned down a film offer from Salman Khan at the age of sixteen; after he was impressed by her performance in one of her school plays but she eventually turned it down to concentrate on her studies as she aspired to be a psychologist at that point of time. Shraddha Kapoor was also taught music from an early age in which she had excelled as a student.

Shraddha Kapoor was raised in a mixed ethnic family, which wasthe initial reason why she aspired to be a actor one day. Shraddha Kapoor has had a very liberal upbringing and her occasional trips to her father’s film set where she was in awe for the art of cinema.

Entry into Cinema ( 2010) Shraddha Kapoor got her very first role in Teen Patti where she appeared in a supporting role alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Ben Kingsley and R Madhavan; the movie garnered highly negative reviews even though she had the perfect platform for her debut as her character received encouraging reviews from critics who were blown away by her irresistible charm and looks which got her very first recognition in the form of Filmfare Award for Best Female debut for that year. Shraddha Kapoor was immediately given a contract by Yash Raj films for a three film deal as a part of which she next starred in their production’s Luv Ka The End where she played a girl who sets out to take a sweet revenge against her cheating boy friend ; although the movie had a cold response Kapoor once again was praised for delivering a stand out performance and also got much attention shortly after which she turned down the thriller Aurangazeb thus ending the contract with Yash Raj films and going on to act in the romantic flick Aashiqui 2 opposite Aditya Roy Kapur , the highly intense musical romantic movie directed by Mohit Suri was Kapoor’s first major break as she came up with a spectacular performance complimenting the emotional intensity of the story also Aditya Roy Kapur’s stellar act with her porcelain features and conduct, which went on to create magic for the lead pair as their on screen chemistry and matured performances coupled with the inspiring music album ensured that the movie gained a cult status among the youth and also became a huge blockbuster. Post Aashiqui 2 - Successful run (2013-2016) After the phenomenal success of Aashiqui 2 which got her nomination for Best Actress category in 2013 in Filmfare, she followed up with a cameo in Imran Khan’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! with which she completed the year 2013. Kapoor came up with the same team of Aashiqui 2 in the romantic thriller Ek Villain in 2014 , this time around starring with Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh , the dark gritty thriller was a an unexplored territory for Kapoor and she gained positive reactions many hailing her as a revelation and the movie too became a huge commercial hit. Later the same year she acted with Shahid Kapoor in Vishal Bhardwaj’s version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet Haider, and her composed performance continued her good critical run and by then she was considered as a serious actress by the critics also. In 2015 Kapoor was seen in the sequel to ABCD, the hit dance movie ABCD 2 for which she had to learn many genres of dance to pull off her character; the movie went on to be her highest grosser till then. Kapoor came back in 2016 with the action thriller Baaghi where she paired with Tiger Shroff in the lead , the movie did no good for her career even though it went on to become a money spinner. After appearing in a cameo in the super hero movie A Flying Jatt again with Tiger Shroff. Kapoor’s; latest film is Rock On 2! The sequel to the 2008 hit rock alongside Farhan Akhtar for which she underwent a period of forced social seclusion spending most of her time alone reading books to prepare herself for the role of the aloof singer in the musical movie to remain true to the character. Upcoming Projects Kapoor is all set for her next release Ok Jaanu , the official remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil romantic flick Ok Kanmani where she will be seen sharing screen again with Aditya Roy Kapur after Aashiqui 2, and then will be seen in Half Girlfriend opposite Arjun Kapoor, the cinematic adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s acclaimed novel of the same name. Kapoor is also reported to be playing Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena in the biopic Haseena Parkar along with her brother Siddhanth Kapoor.
